C/LTC Daniel Alcala

Batallion Commander

JROTC, in my eyes, is a program that will enhance one persons apect on life and make them a better person. Through my experiences as a cadet starting off as the lowest rank possible, and working as hard as i could, i could obtain something great. Eventually i made it on to staff my 2nd year in JROTC and with all my hard work paying off, I became the Batallion Commander for the Rough Rider Bastallion.

JROTC, is a magnificent program for me teaches a lot of useful things that will definitely benefit me in the future. The path that JROTC is taking me is defintiely a postive direction because of everything i have leanred in JROTC. I have learned discipline, leadership skills, motivation, and most importantly the will to always want to accomplish my mission.

The Rough Rider Batallion is one of the best batallions in Detroit. Ever since joining JROTC, i have learned a lot about real life and all the skills i will need in my future. I truly believe JROTC is my family now and a family sticks together, that is why I joined this program, for the comfort of friends who are actually willing to help and assist me.

Western Song

School Song

     "Western Glorified"

Written by Homer LaGassey, Sr.

Western High, we're here for you;

    Colors fly we cheer for you.

    Pride and glory is our right;

   We salute the red and white!

         RAH!  RAH!  RAH!

Old traditions, tried and true,

Loyalty we pledge to you;

Courage high, to do or die

For dear old Western High!
